Summer stands for longer days, more sun, and plenty of time spent in the water. Swimming and time in the beach with children and family or friends is possible only in the summer months. It is August and we still have time for fun and frolic.

When children are at home and need to relax and unwind you will be looking for ways to keep them entertained. Here is a list of things to do that Manhasset Long Islanders will find interesting.

Each year you may be faced with the same challenge of selecting a few things to do that you can pack within the three month’s calendar.

The list could be long but you can pick up your favorite activities and keep in mind what your children like to do.

  1. Hit the beach: Where will you find the most beautiful beaches in the country, it is Long Island that offers many beach fronts, including Jones Beach State Park. Take the children out to the beach and build some sand castles, ride the white waves, and make the best of what this island has to offer.

3. Go for a ride: Head to one of Long Island’s awesome amusement parks like Boomers! to play miniature golf, bumper boats, batting cages, go karting, kiddie rides, and amazing arcades. They also cater to birthday parties, group outings and families.

  1. Enjoy Ice-cream – There are stores that sell homemade ice cream that comes in flavors from the traditional vanilla to the innovative rainbow cookie like Krisch’s Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlor. They also serve old world style ice cream sodas and malts to gigantic sundaes.
